I have always been a creative person. I grew up in a house full of crafters. Buttons, beads, and glitter always surrounded me. I was enrolled in a local art studio when I was in middle school where my art teacher stressed the importance of the creative process. When I got to high school it was a different story. I was shy around my new classmates and did not know where I fit into my new school. My whole life changed when a cream colored envelope slid across my desk in homeroom towards the end of freshman year. Inside the envelope was my invitation to be a member of the arts community at my high school. Being invited into the arts meant that I would be allowed to take a special class in my sophomore year and would be able to access the limitless resources in my school. I jumped at the opportunity to become involved and learn more about my creative side. The specially designed courses, my own research and practice have led me to become an expert on the creative process and how other people view art. The creative process is the way that people think and there actions that lead to the creation of something.

How different individuals approach creative tasks is something that I have always been fascinated with. I love to see how people take a task given to them and how they interpret it to make it their own. Personally I have spent a lot of time exploring the way that I go about creating my own projects and my own creative process. I have also talked to various types of artists of various ages about how they process and create works of visual art. I have discussed the creative process with artist whose preferred art form is not visual arts, like musicians, dancer and writers.

Understanding the creative process has helped me win awards and get recognized in the arts. I received an award for volunteering in the arts because I spent countless hours working with children both in and out of school. Working with kids helped me expand my expertise on the creative process. My understanding of the creative process has led my art to be noticed by my school and by my state; I have had art displayed at galleries around the state and in many displays in my school. I would not have been able to accomplish any of this without my knowledge of the creative process

My understanding of the creative process has also lead me to make many different types of friends. I have made lifelong friends in my art classes because we both share a love of visual arts and creation using our hands. But also due to my eagerness to learn more about the creative process I have made friends with other students who use different mediums to explore there creativity. I have made friends with writers and musicians because we are both creative. My best friend first contacted me because he knew I was creative and wanted me to read the novel that he is writing. We are now great friends and email back and fourth on the topic of his book and occasionally some of my artwork. My creativity and my understand of the creative process have allowed me to make meaningful connections with friends that will last a lifetime

I am an expert in the creative process. The creative process varies form person to person and because of this I get to interact with many different types of people. Interacting with the different types of people allowed me to make friends from across all different types of mediums, learning how they approach creative situations. Becoming an expert in the creative process allowed me to expand my own personal art and also to teach kids to expand their horizons. My mastery of the creative process has allowed me to flourish into the artist and the woman I am today. I hope to continue to expand my knowledge on the creative process and find more people who are interested in the arts.
